The Teaching
Following are a few short extracts from Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov’s talks. They represent only a small proportion of the themes he often elaborated on over the years. Readers are invited to refer to the main body of his teaching presented in the volumes, CDs and Videos published by Prosveta. |
Over a period of nearly fifty years (between 1937 and 1986) the Master Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov gave nearly 5,000 public talks. He always spoke from the inspiration of the moment without notes, usually in French and occasionally in English. His teaching was dispensed primarily in France (at the Izgrev center in Sèvres and at the Bonfin in Fréjus) but also in Switzerland, Canada, the United States and Scandinavia. His teaching was entirely oral. The books published and distributed by Prosveta have been transcribed from stenographic notes or audio and video live recordings of his talks. As early as 1969, the Master entrusted this task to a disciple and it is still going on. Today, his books can be found in many bookstores as well as in hundreds of public and university libraries in many countries and in more than 30 languages. |
“The Teaching of the Universal White Brotherhood does not preach renunciation of the world and of life in society in order to devote oneself to meditation and prayer. Other teachings have recommended this and they had their reasons for doing so. The goal of the Teaching of the Universal White Brotherhood is different: its purpose is not to win over a few people and train them in a purely spiritual and mystic way of life but rather to reach the entire world and set it in motion; and one cannot train the whole world on a path designed for only a few. So, since its goal is different, the methods are also different. It is good for everyone to have work, raise a family and manifest as social beings, but at the same time they need a discipline and methods to help them improve their family and social life. Many people are still at the stage where, if they commit themselves to the spiritual life they neglect their business or, if they look after their business interests they neglect their spiritual life! No… we need both. We have to find the balance between the two.” Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov |
